The following exercises are simple to do and could be done before rugby training if warmed up, during a weights session or after practice However you do them if you consistently add jumps into your plan then you will begin to make improvements in your speed. 1 leg hops
Simple one leg hopping is powerful for priming the sprinting musculature. When doing this ensure you land mid foot (not on the toes like sprinting) for safety reasons and to ensure you recruit the buttock muscles. Perform for 10-30m+
Forward jumps – 2 Legs
High powerful jumps are again effective for developing sprinting speed. Perform for 10-20m
