One of if not the fundamental aspect of rugby success is player fitness. One of the most fundamental aspects of achieving this is measuring progress. If you don’t measure it then you have no way of assessing if they have improved. While bigger organise clubs or schools can use a structured measurement system for the average coach it is sometimes easier and better to simply test the players without them even knowing. This by passes the organisation hassle and recording of data that official testing brings.
